Dick Lamm at the immigration overpopulation conference
Moments later, former Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm stood up and gave a stunning speech on how to destroy America. The audience sat spellbound as he described eight methods for the destruction of the United States. He said, "If you believe that America is too smug, too self-satisfied, too rich, then let's destroy America. It is not that hard to do. No nation in history has survived the ravages of time. Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and fall and that 'An autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide.'"
Here is how they do it," Lamm said:
"First, to destroy America, turn America into a bilingual or multi-lingual and bicultural country." History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict, and antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures. It is a blessing for an individual to be bilingual; however, it is a curse for a society to be bilingual. The historical scholar, Seymour Lipset, put it this way: "The histories of bilingual and bi-cultural societies that do not assi milate are histories of turmoil, tension, and tragedy." Canada, Belgium, Malaysia, and Lebanon all face crises of national existence in which minorities press for autonomy, if not independence. Pakistan and Cyprus have divided. Nigeria suppressed an ethnic rebellion. France faces difficulties with Basques, Bretons, and Corsicans.".
Lamm went on: Second, to destroy America, "Invent 'multiculturalism' and encourage immigrants to maintain their culture. I would make it an article of belief that all cultures are equal. That there are no cultural differences. I would make it an article of faith that the Black and Hispanic dropout rates are due solely to prejudice and discrimination by the majority. Every other explanation is out of bounds.
Third, "We could make the United States an 'Hispanic Quebec' without much effort. The key is to celebrate diversity rather than unity. As Benjamin Schwarz said in the Atlantic Monthly recently: "The apparent success of our own multiethnic and multicultural experiment might have been achieved not by tolerance but by hegemony. Without the dominance that once dictated ethnocentricity and what it meant to be an American, we are left with only tolerance and pluralism to hold us together." Lamm said, "I would encourage all immigrants to keep their own language and culture. I would replace the melting pot metaphor with the salad bowl metaphor. It is important to ensure that we have various cultural subgroups living in America enforcing their differences rather than as Americans, emphasizing their similariti e s."
"Fourth, I would make our fastest growing demographic group the least educated. I would add a second underclass, unassimilated, undereducated, and antagonistic to our population. I would have this second underclass have a 50% dropout rate from high. School."
"My fifth point for destroying America would be to get big foundations and business to give these efforts lots of money. I would invest in ethnic identity, and I would establish the cult of 'Victimology.' I would get all minorities to think that their lack of success was the fault of the majorit y. I would start a grievance industry blaming all minority failure on the majority population."
"My sixth plan for America's downfall would include dual citizenship, and promote divided loyalties. I would celebrate diversity over unity. I would stress differences rather than similarities. Diverse people worldwide are mostly engaged in hating each other - that is, when they are not killing each other. A diverse, peaceful, or stable society is against most historical precedent. People undervalue the unity it takes to keep a nation together. Look at the ancient Greeks. The Greeks believed that they belonged to the same race; they possessed a common language and literature; and they worshipped the same gods. All Greece took part in the Olympic games. A common enemy, Persia, threatened their lib er ty. Yet all these bonds were not strong enough to overcome two factors: local patriotism and geographical conditions that nurtured political divisions. Greece fell. "E. Pluribus Unum" -- From many, one. In that historical reality, if we put the emphasis on the 'pluribus'. Instead of the 'Unum,' we will balkanize America as surely as Kosovo."
"Next to last, I would place all subjects off limits; make it taboo to talk about anything against the cult of 'diversity.' I would find a word similar to 'heretic' in the 16th century - that stopped discussion and paralyzed thinking. Words like 'racist' or 'xenophobe' halt discussion and debate. Having made America a bilingual/bicultural country, having established multi-culturism, having the large foundations fund the doctrine of 'Victimology,' I w oul d next make it impossible to enforce our immigration laws. I would develop a mantra: That because immigration has been good for America, it must always be good. I would make every individual immigrant symmetric and ignore the cumulative impact of millions of them."
In the last minute of his speech, Governor Lamm wiped his brow Profound silence followed. Finally he said,. "Lastly, I would censor Victor Hanson Davis's book Mexifornia. His book is dangerous. It exposes the plan to destroy America. If you feel America. deserves to be destroyed, don't read that book.".
There was no applause. A chilling fear quietly rose like an ominous cloud above every attendee at the conference. Every American in that room knew that everything Lamm enumerated was proceeding methodically, quietly, darkly, yet pervasively across the United States today. Discussion is being suppressed. Over 100 languages are ripping the foundation of our educational system and national cohesiveness. Even barbaric cultures that practice female genital mutilation are growing as we celebrate 'diversity.' American jobs are vanishing into the Third World as corporations create a Third World in America - take note of California and other states - to date, ten million illegal aliens and growing fast. It is reminiscent of George Orwell's book "1984." In that story, three slogans are engraved in the Ministry of Truth building: "War is peace," "Freedom is slavery," and "Ignorance is strength.".
Governor Lamm walked back to his seat. It dawned on everyone at the conf erence that our nation and the future of this great democracy is deeply in trouble and worsening fast. If we don't get this immigration monster stopped within three years, it will rage like a California wildfire and destroy everything in its path, especially The American Dream.

If this is true (and historically it is!) then why does Lamm even attempt to defend Davis's book or the "American Dream" for that matter?! America is indeed too smug, too self-satisfied, and too rich! So I say, in all seriousness, Let's destroy it!
What's this obsession with keeping the "American Dream" in America? If you live in a shit hole, then you, no doubt, want to get out of it whether you're American or not! Why doesn't the government just copyright the phrase "American Dream" and charge a royalty-fee to anyone who wants to use it? Afterall, isn't that part of the "American Dream": making money off of as many people as quickly and easily as possible? Oh, and don't forget to make sure that no one else can steal YOUR idea; you don't want anyone else to start making more money than you!
Just remember America: Everyone needs food and clothing and shelter, but most importantly Freedom; that's why our forefathers came here; that's why people still come here! America and it's "American Dream" shouldn't be made into some exclusive club with limited membership! Human life is far too important...Just remember America: Government is expendable, People Are Not!
And if that idea doesn't fit into the American "Clique," well then, maybe America and it's warped dream need to be radically altered or even destroyed.
And, by the way, I absolutely abhor the misused reference to Orwell's "1984." How on earth do the engravings on the Ministry of Truth building relate to the immigration problem posed by Lamm and the author of this submission? To any intelligent reader it's obvious: Ignorance is indeed Strength (especially for the author of this e-mail and most right-wing nuts and conservatives). To the likes of you I say this: Go forth! And continue exploiting and destroying profound literature for your own perverse reasons! (The Wise will see right through you!)

Maybe the reason there was no applause was because this man was talking out of his behind.
The author must be omniscient, having described the emotions and thoughts of literally everyone present at this speech.

this xenophobic schlock is laughable. No the word xenophobia is not just some catch all, witch-hunt label like heretic; it is from the greek word for stranger or foreigner and the latin word for fear (buy a dictionary and look it up), and the assertion that people carrying on cultural traditions different than your own is going to DESTROY THE COUNTRY!!!! is clearly xenophobic.

HAHAHA!! So there are 100 languages ripping the educational system apart are there? Yeah? Then surely you can name a mere 25 examples. No? How about 15? 10? Still no?
The previous statement only one of many in this piece that makes clear the authors complete disconnection from reality and/or complete disinterest in whether or not what they are saying is true. Of course, who cares? This piece isn't about facts, it's about the G** D***ED MEXICANS TRYIN' TO TAKE OVER THE COUNTRY!!!! We can only hope Lamb Dick's rousing speech moved his audience to go lynch some brown people.

ILLEGAL immigration is just that, illegal . Why has our government attempted to give illegal immigrants social security benefits and not identify the national language as being English? Ask the Democrats, they are the ones who want it. Ask a realist, and The Captain will tell you to follow the money as it flies right out of your pockets into some illegals legally. And who elects these criminals? Legals, no doubt. Hold on, I have to go bid on a new rifle on the ebay, you know, to protect some of our last rights...

Has anyone read the fourtenth amendment, section one (14.1) of the Consitution of the United States? If not, read it. Illegal immigrants have no rights or privleges, unless they are citizens of this nation. Therefore, all the laws that have been passed for illegal immigrants is in violation of this ancient document, that politicians utilize when it suits their needs. Dick Lamm is correct, at the rate this country is going, the U. S. will be a third world country. Historically, ever great nation lasts, on the average 200 years. We are well over due!!!!!

Mr. Sloan's ha ha is not so funny. In our town, the largest school district has to contend with 64 different languages. Most buildings as signed with 4 to 6 different languages just to direct people to the office. A great deal of money is spent on ESL and special education classes for illiterate and non english speaking students. One web site with good references to back up each cost lists 14 different areas where billions are being spent on illegal immigrants to the total sum of over 300 billion per year. It has been estimated that it would cost over 200 billion a year to round up the illegals and ship them back and keep them out. Sounds like a bargain.

dick lamm has been ahead of the curve for years.we can not or won't take care of our legal residents needs now. should we have to provide the pressure relief valve for mexico? a country that is so corrupt and abusive to it's own citizens that most see their only future as getting the hell out as soon as possible.mexico has vast natural wealth that is poorly distributed. lets turn the guilt trip around and focus on the inequities in mexico. oh i remember... the mexican elite sell us lots of oil and thats why we ignore their screwed up system.
